How to Win in an Exit Room Game

You are trapped in a room with your other friends. You see symbols on the wall, objects scattered, and a chilly voice telling you that you only have 60 minutes to escape. Everybody gets into work as they find a useful object that can be used to escape the room.

The exit room is part of the game and it can also serve as a team-building exercise. If it is your first time doing an escape room, here are some things that can help you and your friends survive and make it out in time.

Communication is Key

To be successful in an exit room, communication with your team is essential. Once you find something that you think might be of help in getting out, tell it to your friends or teammates. That object can be something that everyone is looking for and you are the lucky person to stumble on it. Communication can save you a lot of time.

Listen to one another. If a member has a crazy idea, evaluate it. It might not be crazy after all.

Pass it on

If you are trying to solve a puzzle quite longer than usual, do not hesitate to ask for help from your team. Remember that someone else might be able to do it if you can’t. If you find yourself pressed for time or at a dead end, move to another task or trade puzzles with someone else.

Make sure that someone is assigned to a puzzle. If you cannot solve it just yet, that means you do not have all the information yet. Just keep looking.

Work by Pairs or Groups

Divide and conquer. That’s how to solve an exit room puzzle. Do not let the whole team work on the same puzzle. Spread out and search the room for different puzzles. Doing this will increase your chances of getting out of the room.

Search Every Corner

Leave no stone unturned. Look very carefully in every crevice. Some areas may capture your attention while there might be places that you’ll miss. To be successful in an exit room game, search every area for any item that can be used to decipher the puzzle.

Listen to your game master

An escape room has a game master who will tell you the introduction and the rules of the game. Sometimes the game master drops some hints before the start of the game that can help save you a lot of time. In-game, there are also clues dropped by the host. Even the staff will help you go to the right direction. Make sure to pay attention.

Remain Calm

Escape rooms are built to be hard to solve. It is meant to bring everyone together to promote teamwork. Whenever you feel frustrated, remain calm and stay positive. You and your team members have a common goal so avoid taking sides and competing against each other.

Don’t Feel Bad

If you cannot escape on time, don’t be disappointed. Sometimes, the hardest puzzles to solve bring the most fun and enjoyment to the teammates. Just enjoy the game, and have fun with whoever you are with in the escape room.
